The Unicorn, Terepocki Creek

After three days of extensive scouting the features have been filmed and hazards removed or noted, Put-in has been determined, Take outs Defined. And at the end of it all I am left wondering... WHY HAS NO ONE BEEN PADDLING THIS!!

Name: Terepocki, Upper Run
Class: IV to IV+
Style: Bedrock and pool drops
Area: Mission, East side of stave lake
Put In: 49.40439,-122.208386 MapTake Out: 49.396724,-122.230063 Map
Length: 2km
Access: Drive to Take-out and Hike or 4x4 to Put-in
Video of run: N/A

Water Levels: Visual under bridge, videos for Reference

Discription:

This creek is a nice high water gem, when everything in that area is blown out then head over to Terepocki, However further testing will likely determine that this creek is run-able more often than we probably think.

Head up Hwy 7 past mission and turn left at Sylvester road (look for the husky station on the left.) Head up the road past Cascade Creek falls (another classic but rarely paddled), the road will eventually become Lost Creek FSR (yet another classic!) Stay on the main road and eventually you will cross over lost creek, continue on until you get to the bridge going over Terepocki Creek. Check the maps ahead of time to save yourself from taking wrong turns. This bridge is the takeout point, park anywhere near the bridge and take the road on river right up to the put-in. The put in is just under 2km up the road, where you will cross over a bridge where a tributary enters and you will be able to see the river from the bridge, a quick 50m bushwack gets you to the river, put in anywhere near where the tributary enters. Be aware your first drop comes up quick, and we have aptly named this drop "Pass or Fail",

Pass or fail: preferred line is left, but at higher levels it may be runnable on the right as well, if this drop scares you then take out and head back down.

The next drop is named "wall street"....  see below for reason, 2 entry lines are possible but there is only one way to get out clean.

High Water

Next feature is one of the more prominent ones, a very clean 10-15'  waterfall with multiple lines or an optional right side slide line. This drop has been named "Marvin", the namesake being derived from  a large rock feature that reminded me of the character "Marvin the Paranoid Android"
when you get the the bottom of the falls you may understand what I was thinking.

Next is a series of smaller features that have interesting features in their own right, they end up leading to the "kilt" which is a large rock skirt with 2 fairly clean lines, one dead centre at high water, and one right at lower water, although there is a bumpy third option down the far left. but no matter what you will end up at the bottom

Kilt at low water

looking up the kilt :P
Kilt at full flow

about 100m after comming out of the kilt you will come face to face with "SNAKES ON A PLANE!" this is one fantastic rapid with a choose your own adventure style, pretty much every direction can be attempted.
SNAKES ON A PLANE! low water
SNAKES ON A PLANE! high water

Next up is a fairly flat section with lots of little boulder boofs, which we affectionately named "Mosh pit", there are no pictures or video of this section, how ever up next is the most dangerous rapid, "GO LEFT, or DIE!", Hopefully in the near future we will get the chance to clear the wood from the right side to make both side run-able and make the whole run safer, It is a MUST to scout this before heading in as there is a guaranteed pin situation in a very active Sieve on the right side.
Go Left or Die

after you avoid certain death, you will be faced with the most complex and last drop in the river, and when you get to the bottom and look right you will see how it got its name. Scouting is best from river right on this drop however you will need to do this BEFORE going though go left or die, as it will be VERY difficult to find a place to get out of your boat before. Scout the whole drop and then  get ready to drop "BRAH....and panties"
Upper "BRAH....and panties"
Middle "BRAH....and panties"
The slippery slide on the lower part of "BRAH....and panties"
The lower "BRAH....and panties"

The takeout is just a couple hundred meters below, and there are still a few boofs along the way.
